Home Again
My sprang-and-woven scarf returned home from its visit to Interweave Press, where it had its photo taken and an article published. Look for it in the March/April issue of Handwoven magazine, with instructions to make this scarf. http://www.weavingtoday.com/magazines
This is similar to the design I used in my workshop on this technique. We had a great time in my class earlier this month. Several people came up with ideas to try that I'd never thought of!

3rd Convergence Exhibit
A third piece I submitted to Convergence 2016 was accepted, for the "All-Media" exhibit. The theme this year is "Mixed Bag". Here's a detail of my piece L'heure Bleue. Come to the Handweavers' Guild of America's Convergence 2016 in Milwaukee to see the whole thing in person!
This is the first time I've had a piece in every exhibit; it's pretty exciting.

Note to Self: I Am Not a Machine
This is for anyone left wondering what ever became of my Very Large Project of drapery fabric. After having everything come together so amazingly smoothly for this project, I must admit I suffered somewhat of a defeat. Although I measured the pattern repeats as I wove and tried to keep my beat consistent, when it came to assembly the panels' stripes did not line up along the entire length of the drapery. In this photo (courtesy J&L Draperies), you can see that the hem in two adjacent panels ends at a different part of the repeat.
Despite this, I'm happy to see it made up and installed, and the effect is similar to the original ones that were disintegrating after 50 years of use. If I ever get an opportunity to do something similar again, I would. It was fun and I have learned the lesson: if it involves horizontal stripes that will need to be matched, proceed with caveats or modify the design.

Sprang and Weaving Piece to Exhibit in "Small Expressions"
One piece from my "Green Impelling" series has been juried into HGA's Small Expressions, an annual international juried exhibit sponsored by the Handweavers Guild of America, Inc., to showcase fiber art on a small scale. The exhibit will be at the Milwaukee Art Museum, July 23 through August 14, 2016, as part of HGA's Convergence fiber arts conference.
These small pieces were a study in expanding my boldness with color, trying out some juxtapositions that I found, hmm... challenging.
This is the first time my work has been accepted into this exhibit. Exciting!
