Looking forward to seeing the front of that piece! There are ways to finish a tapestry that don't involve weaving in all of those ends, including lining the back after the ends are trimmed a bit.
I knew when I saw all those ends that I should've consulted my tapestry friends. I don't think backing this one will work, though, because I plan to leave the slits open, and then the ends would poke through. It's actually off the loom now and the needling-in is going faster than I'd expected.
