Fringe-y

Among a bunch of samples I did last month was this fringe-y thing.  It would be cute as a scarf, don't you think?

Leno Iridescence - result

One of the scarves I wove in this series - they're all iridescing (is that a word?), but this photo shows it up the most.

Winter Lace

Sample for the latest project, casting an intricate shadow in midwinter afternoon sun.

It's a leno weave, hopefully for a project to submit for next summer's Convergence yardage exhibit.  The colors I've chosen are cold, but the sun coming in my window is keeping me warm as I weave.

Sprang and doubleweave again

In an effort to be more brave about color, I'm trying some oddball (to me) color combinations in some small sprang-and-woven art pieces, just to see what happens with color blending and contrast.  These are a series similar in structure to some of the doubleweave I had done a couple years ago.

It's interesting that the sprang under the tension of the loom is causing the fabric to buckle slightly.  I don't remember noticing this before, but the low light angle is really showing it up in this photo.

Light through/on heddles

I walked by one of the looms the other day and noticed the late afternoon light shining through the heddles and that there seemed to be two light sources.  It's reflecting off of something, I thought, but I couldn't see what... until I realized it's reflecting off the heddles themselves.
